Blogs on Decline

| | Comments (0)
It is clear that the advent of social networks like Facebook and Twitter, or twits from iPhones, texting - all this is leading to the decline of the usefulness of a personal blog as primary form of connecting with others socially.

My visitors have dropped a huge amount, and I don't visit other blogs as I once religiously did.

The newer services are just that: better services for the same thing: personal expression and news, photos, videos, amusements.

Websites exist for specific purposes almost exclusively, forums for politics, avenues for business, promotions for products, almost anything EXCEPT, "hey, what's going on. This is what I'm thinking about today."

For me, the blog experiment began in 2003, has been fun, but its life span is clearly winding down.

Still here for a while, however.

Dreams = Rest?

Most of the time, if I dream a lot during the night, I feel like my brain has properly unwound and some kind of real rest has taken place.

But not today. Perhaps because Tuesday night I had trouble sleeping at all. This morning after various hyper-episodes since midnight, I am up, but sluggish.

One more full day of work, then a couple off to regroup. Not even going to bar-b-que. Staying indoors, out of this remorseless heat and humidity.

I don't know about you, but this month has been going on for what seems an eternity.

Not to rush or squander time, but let's get into July already. :)

The Heat is On

Hello lonely blog reader,

This just in: Houston is HOT. Literally.

My blog is a dying breed, what with Facebook and Twitter taking control. Fine. Way of the universe. The $14.99/month webhosting fee is still worth it.

One day I might frame this website into a coherent organization upon one or another principle. Suggestions?

I tend more toward topical commentary and amusement.

For that long baseball game or tennis match.

Looks a little unwieldy to drink, however.

It is so original!
I know, I know - sophomoric. But then I always was a senior.

Thrilling page turner for bedtime reading.

Just one more chapter, just one more chapter.

Then the clock reads 3:00AM and so much for biorhythms.

Kindle Trouble

If you have enough electronic devices in your house, a few of them are bound to mysteriously develop problems. Kindle won't turn on after all night trying to charge. Light was blinking. Replugged it in. Still yellow but not blinking.

We'll see later today. Pretty expensive experiment if it in fact is broken. :/

After Sam's embarrassing comment to the ladies on the cooking show, time to lighten the mood and recall "really good dates."

oops!

Bad call Sam.

Live performance. Enthusiastic. Nice to see someone not faking anything. She has the pipes and is loving every minute of belting out her talent when so many others never get such a shot.

You have got to love the part where she says, "I know I've got issues, but you're pretty messed up too."
